October 14, 2003 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — The Planet (theplanet.com), a Dallas, Texas-based hosting provider, has been the fastest growing Web hosting company over the last six months based on percentage growth in active sites, according to research conducted by Netcraft (news.netcraft.com).

The Netcraft survey found that The Planet grew 204.73 percent between April and October, going from 15,923 sites to 48,522 in active sites. This growth was more than double that of the second fastest growing company.

EV1Servers.net (ev1servers.net) came in second with a 70.69 percent increase and iPowerWeb (ipowerweb.com) third, with a 65.85 percent rise.

SRS Sakura Internet, Inc. (sakura.ad.jp), VenturesOnline, Inc. (venturesonline.com) and Lycos (lycos.com) rounded out the top five with 56.75, 53.43, and 52.87 percent in growth respectively.

The sample measured only companies with more than 10,000 active sites and growth of more than 50 percent over that period.
