July 7, 2004 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Italian Web hosting company Seeweb (seeweb.it) was the most reliable Web hosting provider for the second consecutive month, according to research and analysis firm Netcraft (netcraft.com). Seeweb, which runs on Linux, experienced a rate of only 0.02 percent failed requests.

Pair (pair.com), iPowerWeb (ipowerweb.com) and Demon Internet (demon.net) followed Seeweb in second to fourth place. Hurricane Electric (he.net), Express Technologies (expresstech.net) and Secdog (secdog.com) were fifth through seventh and INetU (inetu.com), Rackspace (rackspace.com) and myhosting.com (myhosting.com) rounded out the top ten.

According to Netcraft, three of the top 10 most reliable hosting provider Web sites ran on Linux while two ran on FreeBSD, two on Windows, one on Solaris and one on OpenBSD.

Netcraft measures and makes available the response times of the fifty leading Web hosting provider Web sites on a monthly basis. The performance measurements are made every fifteen minutes from four separate points around the Internet, and averages are calculated over the immediately preceding 24-hour period.

Last month, Seeweb was the most reliable, followed by Jumpline and Dellhost.
