November 29, 2002 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — The Netcraft survey found that complex Web hosting businesses are continuing to lose business, while some SME hosting firms are seeing dramatic growth.

Netcraft (netcraft.com), a UK-based systems and management consultancy, found that the number of Web sites hosted at domain networks such as Cable & Wireless, Global Crossing and above.net declined between 20 and 30 per cent over the past year.

The worst decreases were sustained by digex.com and psi.net, which lost more than 75 per cent of their hosted sites.

Concurrently, smaller companies such as Dialtone/Interland Managed Hosting and Ratiokontakt increased their

hosted sites by more than 30 per cent.

The number of sites hosted by Rackshack grew by more than 161 per cent, according to Netcraft, and now hosts more than 13,000 sites.
