July 9, 2003 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Schlund (schlund.de), Rackshack (rackshack.com) and Time Warner Cable (timewarnercable.com) are the fastest growing Web hosting providers, according to research conducted by Netcraft (netcraft.com).

To attain these results, Netcraft counted the total number of servers between March 2002 to March 2003 and only included companies that started the period with a minimum of 600 servers, ended the period with at least 1000 servers, and showed growth of at least 33 percent. These restrictions were set to ensure that the results did not include companies by virtue of them being small at the start of the period.

The study found that 17 companies grew by more than 33 percent over the year.

Schlund and Rackshack topped the list, turning in growth rates of 508 and 342 percent respectively.

In a separate study, Netcraft found that Verio, Rackspace and Rackshack have been the major beneficiaries of the turmoil surrounding beleaguered host Feature Price. Approximately 8,000 of Feature Prices?s 40,000 sites have moved to these three providers.

Most assets of Feature Price were acquired by Atlantic.net in May. However, recently the company?s site DNS has been pointing to Yahoo! Webhosting recently, and it is currently unclear who is in control of the Feature Price domain.
