Netcraft: 69% Feature Price Customers Moved

September 12, 2003 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — The fallout from the collapse of Florida-based Web hosting provider Feature Price (featureprice.com) continues as over 69 percent of former Feature Price customers have switched to new hosting providers since May 2003, according to research by Netcraft (netcraft.com).

According to Netcraft, 16,000 sites moved from Feature Price between July 11 and August 11. Atlantic.net (atlantic.net) was the largest beneficiary, acquiring 2, 232 new customers formerly with Feature Price. Verio (verio.com) and Rackshack/EV1 Servers (ev1servers.com) also added customers from the distressed provider, adding 1,264 and 928 respectively. iPowerWeb (ipowerweb.com) and Rackspace Managed Hosting (rackspace.com) rounded out the list welcoming 548 and 419 new Feature Price customers.

The 2,232 customers added by Atlantic.net represented 13 percent of the 16,000 total sites moved.

Atlantic.net had reached an agreement to acquire the beleaguered host and its 40,000 customers in May only to see the deal voided in late August.

During the period between May and August, Feature Price customers had begun transitioning their hosting services to Atlantic.net. In July, all sites hosted by Feature Price were offline due to a dispute between Feature Price and Atlantic.net over access to equipment.

According to a recent notice posted on Feature Price’s Web site, the host said it is open for business.
