first Internet Traffic Observatory, the Register reported this week.

The Internet Traffic Observatory will be made up of a network of 50 nodes distributed throughout Europe. The computers will be set up with traffic generation cards and synchronized through satellites. The computers will send traffic between them to measure such things as time lag or the transfer speed of Web pages.

A control center that will manage the Internet Traffic Observatory is expected to be set up by the Telematic Networks, Systems and Services Research Group of the Public University of Navarre.

The project will be funded by the European Union's Evergrow program.
