(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Data storage networking and computing solutions firm nDataStor (www.ndatastor.com) will be deploying a storage system from IceWEB (www.iceweb.com), enabling the company to start modestly and scale into multiple disk shelves capable of storing hundreds of terabytes of unstructured data.

According to IceWEB’s Wednesday announcement, nDataStor will be using IceWEB Storage System 5000-HC, which it calls “the perfect solution for high growth imaging environments.”

IceWEB 5000-HC provides high density commercial storage for business-class applications. Designed to offer the most capacity-per-IT-dollar, the 5000-HC system can be scaled to very large capacity points. It also supports the Fibre Channel or 10Gb Ethernet connections needed to access these drives, and includes all the storage management features for modern, virtualized application infrastructure.

nDataStor president Peter Prieto said this deal is a significant win-win for both companies. “The highly scalable IceWEB storage appliance will be a marquee install with this high profile customer, which is expected to generate 100′s of TB’s in additional orders as the institutions cellular image storage management requirements expand,” Prieto said in a statement.

The unnamed end customer nDataStor is helping with this purchase is one of the largest federally funded research facilities in the country. The highly scalable IceWEB Storage System 5000-HC, nDataStor said, will be used to store millions of cellular images for the institution’s cancer research.

“This order is representative of the success of our two tier distribution model,” IceWEB worldwide channel sales and marketing senior vice president Karl Chen stated. “Our West Coast channel sales manager worked closely with channel partner, nDataStor, to engage an organization where nDataStor already has a valued end customer relationship. It is the first digital footprint in the Pacific region and took approximately 180 days from initial partner on-boarding to end customer order.”
