(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Security and compliance auditing solution provider nCircle (www.ncircle.com) has increased the vulnerability coverage in its WebApp360 web application scanning product, adding coverage in seven of the top 10 security categories defined by the Open Web Application Security Project (www.owasp.org), a non-profit community for the improvement of application software security.
WebApp360 is the component of nCircle’s automated security and compliance auditing suite, Suite360, that secures deployed web applications and their underlying operating systems and adjacent applications. According to nCircle’s Monday announcement, WebApp360 provides automated coverage for what the OWASP considers the most dangerous web application flaws, helping enterprises discover and remedy these flaws before their systems are compromised.
The OWASP top 10 list of critical vulnerability categories is recognized as the baseline standard for web application scanners. One of the areas of greatest security risks to enterprises are applications handing online banking, e-commerce and electronic health-care information. These systems are the main point of customer interaction, making vulnerabilities can provide attackers with access to sensitive customer and corporate data.
Undergoing constant changes due to upgrades, patches and new configurations, web applications are always prone to vulnerabilities. WebApp360 continuously scans for vulnerabilities and is the only solution to measure the risks associated with the operating system on which the application is installed and any adjacent applications such as the web server, according to the company.
“Web applications are the front end and customer interaction points for most enterprises that do business on the Internet,” nCircle chief technology officer Tim Keanini said in a statement. “WebApp360 coverage of 7 of the OWASP Top 10 categories enables enterprises to proactively secure their deployed Web applications as well as their underlying operating system and adjacent applications.”
WebApp360 and its expanded OWASP Top 10 vulnerability coverage are available now.
