NaviSite Hosting Insurance ISV Application

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Managed hosting company NaviSite (www.navisite.com) said this week that its SaaS hosting solution has been selected by insurance industry application developer Input1, to provide hosting for its solution.

Input1, says NaviSite, provides business process outsourcing and software or the insurance premium finance industry, offering customers both a licensed, on-premise version of its application and a completely outsourced model.  NaviSite says its SaaS hosting service will enable the company to provide the outsourced version to a larger customer base.

The solution provided by NaviSite includes several virtualized servers, shared high-availability load balancers, firewalls and backup solutions. The company says its platform is built on “enterprise grade infrastructure,” which includes HP blade servers and IBM storage area networking.

“ISVs are rapidly embracing the SaaS model, enabling them to deploy their software solutions to more customers, with better reliability and performance than on-premise or traditional colocation deployments,” says Sumeet Sabharwal, NaviSite’s SVP of SMB Hosting, quoted in the company’s press release. “NaviSite’s comprehensive suite of solutions for ISVs includes consulting services, ranging from initial architectural planning for SaaS deployments to the development and testing of SaaS application changes required to deploy secure, reliable solutions on our virtualized VMware server platforms or managed dedicated hosting solutions.”

NaviSite says its hosting solutions for SMBs are characterized by their use of VMware as virtualization technology, with flexible options for CPU, RAM and storage hardware and operating system.

The company’s focus on the SaaS distribution of software for ISV customers is illustrated by its early involvement in the Microsoft BizSpark program, a partnership program designed, in part, to connect ISVs with hosting providers well-versed in the SaaS distribution needs of software development firms.

The company has a lot of information about its role in the BizSpark program available in a special section of its website.
