(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Enterprise hosting and application services provider NaviSite (www.navisite.com) announced on Tuesday it has expanded its suite of Business Email Services powered by Microsoft Exchange Server.
According to the press release, the newly enhanced services are designed to provide small and medium-sized businesses with “the reliability, flexibility and mobility that are essential for success in today’s business climate.”
NaviSite has long been a hosted email service provider, hosting over 450,000 business mailboxes for companies around the world.
By expanding its Business Email Services, NaviSite is offering larger mailboxes and a suite of complementary services, including broader wireless connectivity and email archiving features.
These features let small businesses effectively communicate with full synchronization of email, contacts, and calendars between the Internet and desktop clients like Microsoft Outlook and Entourage.
Businesses are able to synchronize the same data with mobile devices like the iPhone, BlackBerry, and Windows Mobile powered devices.
“Small business owners realize that Microsoft Exchange and its collaboration, mobility, and world-class infrastructure is an essential piece of technology that is too complicated to run in-house,” says Sumeet Sabharwal, senior vice president of dedicated hosting at NaviSite. “NaviSite is responding to the need of the SMB market for a business-grade email service to facilitate employee communication and productivity without spending precious capital and resources to deploy the complex Microsoft Exchange infrastructure.”
NaviSite’s Business Email Service bundles Outlook 2007 and Entourage 2008 desktop software, Postini Anti-Spam and ActiveSync for instant email access on Windows Mobile, Apple iPhone, Nokia mobile devices.
It also includes a free Microsoft Windows SharePoint collaboration website, which can serve as intranet, file server or collaboration server for small businesses.
Despite this SMB-focused offering, NaviSite says it also “caters to business email needs of medium and larger companies” with customizable messaging solutions based on dedicated or enterprise Microsoft Exchange offerings.
Earlier this year, NaviSite began offering hosting automation control panel Parallels Plesk Panel 9.0 and Parallels Plesk Billing 6.0 to its dedicated hosting customers.
