Mzima Expands Network to Amsterdam

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Extending its network reach and expanding its high-performance services in Europe, network service provider Mzima Networks (www.mzima.net) has expanded into two colocation facilities in Amsterdam, run by premium, network-independent data center provider TelecityGroup (www.telecity.com).

According to Mzima’s Wednesday announcement, the two additional points of presence make Mzima’s IP transit and transport services available in more than 40 carrier-neutral facilities throughout North America, Europe and Asia. Its network-neutral expansion also extends its network reach to more than 50 carriers already colocated with TelecityGroup in the Netherlands.

“TelecityGroup has a reputation for managing quality data center facilities that are operated 24×7,” Mzima chief technology officer Grant Kirkwood said in a statement. “The company has been a choice for leading US businesses expanding into Europe, as it is widely recognized as the benchmark for European colocation operations and management of one of the leading energy efficient facilities in the EU.”

Mzima offers a unique combination of route-optimized transit and private peering for customers who require the highest levels of performance and reliability. Mzima’s international backbone network uses a multi-layer design, ensuring customer traffic reaches end-users quickly and efficiently, even in the event of a catastrophic facility failure.

TelecityGroup Netherlands managing director Alexandra Schless said TelecityGroup is excited to add Mzima Networks to its roster of carriers. “Attracting quality network operators that offer high quality services is the ideal fit, supporting TelecityGroup’s commitment to being a highly-connected data centre provider,” Schless said in a statement.

“Supported by TelecityGroup’s skilled, on-site technical personnel, together with our track record of scalable service delivery to a broad range and size of organizations and sectors, we can not only meet Mzima Networks exacting needs for redundancy, fault tolerance, physical security, and service quality, but provide a channel to new opportunities.”

While it has expanded its European offerings, Mzima has been awarded some high-profile contracts stateside. For instance, less than a month ago, colocation, enterprise hosting and data center services provider Corelink Data Centers (www.corelink.com) chose Mzima to provide direct, dedicated connectivity between its Phoenix, Las Vegas and Seattle facilities with a high-performance transport network, as well as providing quality IP transit to Corelink’s high-bandwidth customers.
