August 20, 2008 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Australian accounting and small business application provider MYOB (myob.com.au) announced on Wednesday it has acquired web hosting provider SmartyHost (smartyhost.com.au), further building on its expansion into the web hosting and Internet marketing services field.

Earlier this year, MYOB launched its web hosting services following its acquisition of web hosting provider Ilisys in February.

As a supplier of web hosting services to Australian businesses, the addition of SmartyHost brings MYOB extensive online marketing experience and broad small business appeal.

The acquistion reinforces MYOB’s strategy to further expand its position in the web hosting market, says MYOB, making the company a “one-stop-shop in web hosting services.” ”This acquisition represents a further evolution of our business and means we will be able to assist small businesses even more,” says Tim Reed, CEO MYOB. “Our overarching strategy is to web enable Australian small businesses. We want to make the first step — establishing a website — more appealing to more business owners. We also plan to help business owners leverage the internet to ‘rewire’ their customer and supplier interactions and other core business processes.”  MYOB says it provides accounting software, payroll software and real-time business management tools to more than 700,000 businesses worldwide.

By integrating its back office business management systems with small business websites, MYOB says it is able to help increase sales, streamline internal processes and offer a higher quality of customer service. The acquisition also enables MYOB to deliver a basic website and domain name package to Australian businesses starting from under $100 per year.
