(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting provider myhosting.com (www.myhosting.com) has deployed Cisco’s Virtual Switching System technology, letting myhosting.com virtualize its network system so that its multiple core switches can act as a single virtual Catalyst switch.
According to its announcement last week, myhosting.com bought Cisco Catalyst 6509 switches, improving its speed, reliability and overall performance by using Cisco’s VSS technology, as part of its ongoing investment in technology innovation. The VSS technology supports multiple 10-gigabit Ethernet links to be active simultaneously, while connecting myhosting.com to multiple Tier-1 network providers and peering partners.
“We are excited to be deploying one of Cisco’s newest technology innovations,” myhosting.com technology vice president Mark Salerno said in a statement. “This deployment in our network helps to ensure high performance, reliability and scalability for our customers who depend on us being up 24×7. myhosting.com has always strived to be the first to invest in the latest hardware and software, so that our customers benefit quicker from improvements from the latest vendor technology.”
VSS simplifies myhosting.com’s management and routing, delivering sub-200 millisecond, layer 2 link recovery during a failover. The new, scalable environment can handle up to 40 gbps traffic and helps lend high-end performance and reliability to myhosting.com’s web hosting, business email and virtual private server customers.
Aside from technical improvements to its network, myhosting.com has recently announced a new commission structure for its web hosting affiliate program, myhostingaffiliates.com, offering affiliates an aggressive, recurring commission plan. According to its announcement last week, myhosting.com gives affiliates who refer clients on any myhosting.com service plan 100 percent of the sale amount for the first four months as long as the customer stays on plan.
