MSI Picks Cable & Wireless IDC

December 8, 2004 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Storage management solutions provider Incentra Solutions (insentrasolutions.com) said on Wednesday that its subsidiary ManagedStorage International (msiservice.com) has renewed and expanded its agreement with Cable & Wireless IDC (cw.com), a provider of voice, data, IP and hosting solutions based in Tokyo, Japan.

Cable & Wireless already provides MSI backup with backup and restore services out of its Tokyo data center. Under the newly signed agreement, Cable & Wireless IDC will add MSI’s online backup and restore service RemoteStor.

MSI will install and manage the data protection infrastructure enabling Cable & Wireless IDC to provide managed backup services to existing and new hosting customers. Cable & Wireless IDC will market and sell the backup and restore service through its existing sales channels as part of its managed hosting portfolio.

“Our agreement with Cable & Wireless IDC is proof that companies around the world are continuing to realize the need to properly protect their assets against a potential loss,” says Rocky Atkins, managing director of MSI Asia-Pacific. “It was also apparent to Cable & Wireless IDC that through working with MSI it can offer its customers an improved portfolio of data protection services.”

The data protection services are available on a monthly fee basis and customers will have access to GridWorks, a Web-based portal for managing storage environments.
