MovinCool Uses Eco-Friendly AC Refrigerant

May 13, 2009 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — The world’s largest manufacturer of spot air conditioners, MovinCool (www.movincool.com), has upgraded all models in its “Office Pro” and “Classic Plus” lines, as well as its latest ceiling-mounted model, to use the environmentally friendly refrigerant R-410A, which, unlike HCFC-based refrigerants such as Freon, does not contain greenhouse gases.

According to MovinCool’s Wednesday announcement, many of its portable spot air conditioners, which provide emergency, supplemental and seasonal cooling and moisture removal, will no longer contain ozone-depleting refrigerant, making them a green choice for applications such as server and telecom rooms, data centers, and offices. Also, MovinCool’s ultra-compact, ceiling-mounted CM12 spot air conditioner offers an efficient and cost-effective solution for applications where space is at a premium, such as server and telecom closets.

“As a company, we are committed to offering environmentally friendly products, and are proud to be continuing to lead our industry sector in this direction,” commercial and industrial systems senior manager John Doran said in a statement. “We are certain that our customers will appreciate our efforts.”

The US Environmental Protection Agency currently limits the amount of HCFC that may be produced, and intends to prohibit use of HCFCs by 2030.
