January 17, 2005 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Data center operator and Internet exchange provider Equinix (equinix.com) announced on Monday that broadband video-on-demand service Movielink, LLC will move its infrastructure into Equinix’s Washington, DC-area Internet Business Exchange center.

Equinix says its facilities offer immediate and direct access to numerous carriers, ISPs and network service providers within the same physical location, enabling Movielink to directly link with these companies, rather than connecting to them in multiple, disparate locations and over long distances.

The company says its secure and redundant physical infrastructure maintains a solid track record of uptime. Its backup system ensures uninterrupted power even during utility power disruptions. Security features include interlocking “mantrap” doors, multiple layers of biometric hand-geometry scanners controlling access, 24-hour security officers, and hundreds of surveillance cameras.
