(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Rackspace (www.rackspace.com) Hosting’s cloud division Mosso (www.mosso.com) announced on Monday it has named Emil Sayegh the company’s new general manager.
The announcement follows last week’s appointment of Jim Lewandowski as the senior vice president of worldwide sales for Rackspace.
Mosso also recently appointed Bruce Runyan to its newly-created position of chief uptime officer. Runyan, who was recently interviewed by The WHIR, is responsible for ensuring that Mosso continues to provide a reliable customer experience as the cloud scales, as well as creating an environment that enables Mosso to introduce new capabilities and capacity without impacting the experience.
Mosso’s new general manager, Emil Sayegh.
Sayegh was previously the vice president of the product group at Rackspace where he helped oversee the development, marketing and management of new products and services for the company’s managed hosting product line.
Before joining Rackspace, Sayegh spent more than 15 years in the IT industry in various product development and marketing roles. Most recently, he served as the services marketing and development director at Dell where he oversaw the global services roadmap.
Additionally, Sayegh served in leadership positions at several notable IT companies including RLX Technologies, Compaq Computers and W.L. Gore and Associates. He holds nine patents in the fields of electronics and telecommunication.
“As the VP of our product group, Emil directed the launches of multiple, successful products including the company’s Hosted Microsoft Exchange and our virtualization product set,” says Lanham Napier, CEO of Rackspace Hosting. “Our cloud hosting initiatives are extremely important to the company?s future, which is why we’ve selected someone with a winning track record to run that business.”
Mosso currently hosts more than 80,000 websites and applications on Cloud Sites, which reflects the company’s 175 percent increase over the previous year.
The company has further expanded its presence in the cloud computing market. At the Rackspace Cloud Event last month, the company revealed its cloud hosting strategy, which includes the acquisitions of virtual private server provider Slicehost and cloud storage provider Jungle Disk, and a suite of cloud solutions.
