(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — To further measure the end-user experience, content delivery solutions provider Mirror Image Internet (www.mirror-image.com) has launched Webtracks, a tracking system that captures user events and activities along with specific user data.
According to Mirror Image’s Tuesday announcement, Webtracks service extends the tracking system concept of generating a log to record user activity by offering additional data which can be appended to the transaction and a configurable rules engine that offers companies the flexibility to define processing logic that meets their specific needs.
“Tracking systems are integral tools on the Web today,” Mirror Image Internet president and chief executive officer Gustav Vik said in a statement. “However, many web analytical services do not provide the necessary information to support today’s web traffic analysis and operations. With Webtracks, we offer global performance and reliability to support business-critical initiatives along with flexibility to address specific application needs.”
Tracking systems such as Webtracks serve several critical functions, including eliminating data inaccuracies resulting from network latency and identifying legitimate user events served out of cache or by proxy servers. Additionally, such systems can be used to consolidate analytical data that results from content delivered through multiple servers or delivery networks and eliminate irrelevant transaction details.
Businesses can use Webtracks for campaign analysis with functions including site traffic reporting, unique visitor counts, advertising auditing, and personalization. It can also provide ad server applications with timely information to effectively track and rotate content.
