(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Microsoft announced on Wednesday it has launched the WebsiteSpark Program (http://www.microsoft.com/web/websitespark/), a new program designed to help business development for Web design and development companies with up to 10 employees.
As an expansion of the “Spark” business development program, which also includes BizSpark and DreamSpark, the WebsiteSpark Program provides qualified Web professionals with design and development software licenses, server production licenses and free training and support.
The services are easily worth thousands of dollars, but qualified Web professionals can receive them for just a $100 fee, which is paid at the time they leave the program.
The program also offers Web professionals access to a broad marketplace where they can connect with potential customers and promote their offerings in Microsoft marketing vehicles through a portal that will be launched later this fall.
Microsoft expects 15,000 to 25,000 companies around the world will take advantage of the offer.
Both the BizSpark and DreamSpark programs provided software to startups and college students were met with success.
During a 10-month period, the Bizspark program had 28,000 companies enroll while the Dreamspark program generated more than 2.6 million downloads.
Microsoft also announced it has released Web Platform Installer 2.0 and the Windows Web Application Gallery 2.0.
The platform provides developers with a simplified installation of Microsoft products and technologies, and includes new additions such as IIS Media Pack abd Windows Azure SDK.
App Gallery gives developers access to dozens of free, open-code and ready-to-install applications, such as WordPress, SugarCRM and DotNetNuke, to help build their websites.
