“Yes, Microsoft did introduce SCO to BayStar as a possible investment opportunity, but I need to reiterate that Microsoft did not participate in the SCO investment and is also not a participant or investor, either directly or indirectly, in BayStar,” McGrath told eWeek.

The comments confirm what some analysts have speculated for months ? that Microsoft played a role in the SCO investment, though it had denied the claims.

According to eWeek, McGrath pointed out that BayStar discusses possible investment opportunities with numerous sources, but did not comment on whether a call from Microsoft about a possible investment opportunity was unusual.

Microsoft spokesman Mark Martin did not comment on McGrath’s revelations, reiterating only that the software giant has no direct or indirect financial relationship with BayStar.
