October 15, 2008 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Mailtrust (www.mailtrust.com), the hosted email division of Rackspace (www.rackspace.com), announced on Wednesday it has appointed David Bjurman-Birr its senior manager of engineering, custom solutions.

In this new role, Bjurman-Birr will be responsible for helping the Mailtrust engineering team maintain and grow the architecture of the company’s Hosted Exchange solution, including finding deeper ways to integrate Mailtrust’s Noteworthy platform with Microsoft Exchange.

Additionally, he will work closely with some of Mailtrust’s largest Exchange customers and build solutions that meet the needs of this client base, says the company.

“As more and more businesses outsource their email services to us, Mailtrust will require continuous infrastructure evolution and maintenance to adapt and align with our customer’s business requirements, and I am excited to be a part of the talented team here at Mailtrust,” says Bjurman-Birr. “Microsoft Exchange is the standard when it comes to business communication and collaboration. My training and access to the ‘Exchange Ranger’ community will help our team take the Mailtrust platform to the next level as we strive to increase reliability, interoperability, and most importantly support.”

An “Exchange Ranger,” according to Mailtrust’s most recent announcement, is a colloquial term for a Microsoft Certified Architect – Messaging, a certification level that less than 100 people hold worldwide.

Pat Matthews, president of Mailtrust, says Bjurman-Birr’s wealth of Microsoft training makes him a “perfect addition” to the technical engineering team and his unique perspective and knowledge will be beneficial to customers.

Prior to joining Mailtrust, Bjurman-Birr lead the Microsoft Infrastructure Consulting Practice for Dell since 2005, where he was responsible for the planning, analysis and implementation of enterprise messaging and unified communications solutions.

Since its acquisition by Rackspace in late 2007, Mailtrust has seen its business class email services flourish, making it a unique player in the industry based on its ability to provide both Exchange and the company’s house brand Noteworthy on a per-user basis.
