Netcraft's Market Share for Top Servers Across All Domains August 1995 - June 2009.
(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web analytics firm Netcraft (www.netcraft.com) announced on Wednesday it has posted the results of its June 2009 survey, which received responses from 238,027,855 sites, an increase of 2,137,329 on last month.
Once again, Apache lead all other the developers as the most popular web server with about 112.2 million sites – a gain of nearly 2.5 million sites since last month.
Holding the top position since 1996, Apache has 47.12 percent of the market share and an increase of 0.63 percentage points this month.
The significant drop in activity at Microsoft Live Spaces led to an overall decrease of 7.8 million Microsoft-IIS sites.
Meanwhile, Google has increased its market share by 1.3 percentage points to nearly 12 million sites, which can mostly be attributed to its increased activity on Blogger.
nginx is gradually climbing the popularity ladder, with a 1 percent increase in market share this month.
The developer gained approximately 2.5 million sites this month, thanks to its use on blogging provider NetEase.
The developer is also used by WordPress.com, which according to Netcraft report saw 180,000 more active blogs this month.
