(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Microsoft (www.microsoft.com) has confirmed that one of its head executives that oversees the company’s data center operations is leaving to assume a product position at network equipment provider Cisco (www.cisco.com).
Debra Chrapaty, vice president of global foundation services, will soon head up Cisco’s collaboration products.
A look at Microsoft’s leadership page shows that Chrapaty was one of only 14 women executives out of the company’s 131 top executives.
Chrapaty has also held positions at ETrade, AllBusiness, and the National Basketball Association, where she served as chief technology officer.
In March, Cisco unveiled its new data center strategy, Unified Computing System, which consists of a new architecture, services and multiple partners to help customers develop data centers using virtualization.
Chrapaty was among the executives who spoke at Microsoft’s recent financial analysts meeting.
This is one of a few recent managerial changes in Microsoft’s data center operations. In April, Microsoft’s general manager of data center services left the company to join data center provider Digital Realty Trust.
Then in June, former Yahoo VP of operations Kevin Timmons joined Microsoft as the head of data center services.
