Wehavethewayout.com, launched last week, is running on the FreeBSD Operating System, a flavor of Unix, with Apache as its Web server software, according to monitoring site Netcraft.com.

The Web site is part of the company’s new “We Have the Way Out” advertising campaign, which is being launched in conjunction with hardware giant Unisys. The campaign aims to convince IT managers of the benefits of running an enterprise system on Unix instead of Windows, and promotes the merits of Unisys’ ES7000 hardware offering.

A Unisys spokesperson told The Wall Street Journal the campaign is designed to highlight Windows as a platform for running sophisticated, enterprise-level database applications. “We are talking about using Windows for those kinds of problems; we are not talking about hosting a simple Web site,” he said. The Journal also reported the site was set up by a third-party provider.
