October 14, 2003 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Microsoft (microsoft.com) today announced the availability of the Solution for Hosted Exchange, a multi-service platform that allows service providers to build, deploy, deliver and manage e-mail communication services for consumers and small and medium-sized enterprises.

The Solution for Hosted Exchange uses .NET technologies including Microsoft Exchange Server 2003, Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Edition and Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition, allowing self-provisioning, server consolidation and delegated administration.

According to the company, the Solution for Hosted Exchange is designed to reduce operating costs and increase revenues through services that enhance end-user productivity. These services include collaboration, shared calendaring, meeting coordination and “smart” mobile device synchronization.

Microsoft has partnered with WebCentral (webcentral.com), an Australian Web hosting provider, to host and deliver the new service.
