(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Microsoft (www.microsoft.com) has announced the winners and finalists of its 2010 Microsoft Partner of the Year Awards, honoring Microsoft Registered, Certified and Gold Certified partners for their exemplary delivery of solutions to their customers during the past year.
According to Microsoft’s Wednesday announcement, award winners and finalists were chosen from nominations from around the world and will be recognized at the Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference 2010 in Washington, D.C., July 12 to 15.
“It’s incredible to see the level of expertise our partners continue to exhibit as they create and deliver innovative solutions and services to grow their businesses, meet customer needs and drive down costs,” Microsoft Worldwide Partner Group corporate vice president Allison Watson said regarding the Partner Award finalists and winners.
With 95 percent of Microsoft’s $60 billion annual revenue generated through its global partner network, partners play a critical role in the delivery of Microsoft solutions.
In the “Hosting Solutions Partner of the Year” category, UK independent communications and hosted IT provider Outsourcery (www.outsourcery.co.uk) took top spot over finalists Fasthosts Internet, and Fpweb.net.
In the UK, where more than 90 percent of businesses use some sort of Microsoft technology, the standards of companies qualifying for partnership status are getting higher than ever as Microsoft increasingly focusses on improving core competencies, levels of investment and the quality of service provided by its partners. At the same time, UK companies operating across all sectors are, in fact, relying increasingly on hosted solutions.
In winning this award over an international field of highly competitive Microsoft partners, Outsourcery has proven itself as one of the top providers of advanced integrated Cloud computing product offerings.
“We strongly believe that the future is Cloud computing and we will continue to offer innovative software plus service solutions that add value to our customers,” Outsourcery joint chief executive officer Piers Linney said. “Just over a year ago we set out to be recognised as number one in the market; now we are proud to have been officially recognised on the global stage as Microsoft’s Hosting Solutions Partner of the Year. We have achieved this through material investment in state-of-the-art infrastructure to provide solutions that enable our customers to reduce costs, become more productive, more efficient and, ultimately more profitable.”
Fellow UK host Fasthosts Internet (www.fasthosts.co.uk) was selected as a finalist, which Fasthosts Internet marketing director Steve Holford noted is a significant honor. “We are delighted to be recognised in this significant award,” he stated. “Microsoft products have always been a popular choice with our customers; however, in recent years we have gone further to investigate and develop new ways to apply Microsoft server technologies and as a result have seen excellent performance and usability benefits for the end–user.”
As a longtime expert in Microsoft hosting, Fasthosts has been offering Microsoft-based solutions since 2002, and has recently launched innovative new Virtual Servers featuring Hyper-V virtualization technology, and Fasthosts customers can take advantage of Microsoft’s most advanced server operating system, Windows Server 2008 R2. Also, Fasthosts’ Data Center on Demand (or “DCoD”) platform, which forms the foundation for the its virtual private server solutions, was designed in collaboration with Microsoft experts using Microsoft Dynamic Data Centre to provide customers the latest agile, secure and highly reliable server infrastructure.
The hosting solutions category is clearly a well-known Partner of the Year award, however, Microsoft has interestingly added a new class of categories based on country. For the first time, Microsoft has added the Microsoft Country Partner of the Year category, which recognizes partners at the country level that have demonstrated business excellence and strong relationships delivering Microsoft solutions.
