(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Swiss web host METANET (www.metanet.ch) is now using Commtouch Anti-Spam (www.commtouch.com) to provide cloud-based threat detection using Commtouch’s proprietary “Recurrent Pattern Detection” technology, which automatically analyzes billions of Internet transactions in real-time, identifying new spam and malware outbreaks as soon as they emerge.
Commtouch Anti-Spam is embedded in METANET’s full range of solutions, including web hosting, reseller hosting and business email, offering better performance and higher accuracy than open-source anti-spam solutions, according to the company’s Tuesday announcement.
Rather than evaluating each individual message, RPD technology analyzes large volumes of Internet traffic in real-time, identifying new spam and malware outbreaks as soon as they emerge without having to add manual rules.
“Commtouch’s advanced messaging security and business model fit the specific needs of hosting providers like METANET,” Commtouch international business development and sales vice president Ido Hadari said in a statement. “We balance their rigorous operational requirements with the high security standards their customers expect, and provide service in a way that suits their commercial offerings.”
Serving more than 10,000 small and medium-sized businesses and 50,000 domains across the German-speaking countries of Central Europe, METANET values reducing customer spam while maintaining a low system load as a way to differentiate its hosting services from competitors, according to METANET co-founder and technical director Mirco Schnarwiler.
“With a highly skilled team and its rock-solid performance, Commtouch delivered superior detection and service from the implementation phase through production,” Schnarwiler said in a statement. “After evaluating other commercial anti-spam technologies, we found that Commtouch’s cloud-based architecture has unmatched spam filtering accuracy. It perfectly complements our long-established anti-spam strategy.”
