July 22, 2002 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- InfiniBand silicon developer Mellanox Technologies Ltd. (Mellanox.com) has launched its Nitro II 10 Gb-per-second InfiniBand server blade reference platform, which uses Mellanox?s InfiniHost host channel adaptor and InfiniScale switching silicon.

The Nitro II platform, says Mellanox, is built using Pentium 4-based diskless server blades, dual 16-port 4X switches and a 10 Gb-per-second backplane supporting 280 Gb-per-second of switching capacity in a 14-blade chassis.

The company says the combination of high-performance processors, memory capacity and InfiniBand silicon delivers an ideal development platform for OEMs and developers working to optimize the performance of clustered databases and other data center applications.
