Mashery Selects Internap for Premium Hosting

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — End-to-end Internet business solutions provider Internap Network Services Corporation (www.internap.com) is providing managed server hosting services for Mashery (www.mashery.com), a cloud-based application programming interface infrastructure management company, helping software developers become Software-as-a-Service providers, either as a primary or secondary line of business.

According to Internap’s Tuesday announcement, Internap’s provide managed hosting to Mashery’s premium customers, and provide backup services for both standard and enterprise service customers. Big names such as Best Buy, MTV, the New York Times and Netflix, all rely on Mashery to manage their APIs.

“We chose Internap after an extensive business and technical vetting process,” Mashery co-founder and chief executive officer Oren Michels said in a statement. “We found the company had the most robust set of MSP services combined with outstanding SLAs – both of which were prerequisites for Mashery and our premium-service customers.”

Although every API is different, the infrastructure to manage them poses the same set of challenges for most providers. Mashery’s developer management and support services let customers focus on their core businesses rather than try managing the APIs themselves, helping them embrace a new distribution channel.

Internap’s broad product set, global network presence, and quality-of-service guarantees helped it win the successful bid for the Mashery business, as well as Internap’s 2008 expansion of its managed-server footprint from a largely stateside operation to a global one.

Internap global sales vice president Randal Thompson said Internap’s unique infrastructure will provide 100 percent uptime for Mashery in all aspects of its online business activities. “By relying on Internap to be the experts in managing servers and network connectivity, Mashery can keep the focus on expanding its core business of managing APIs for customers,” Thompson said in a statement.
