(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Anti-spam software provider MailChannels (www.mailchannels.com) announced Wednesday the wide distribution of its email filtering solution MailChannels Outbound.

MailChannels Outbound blocks spam from leaving a service provider’s network. By preventing the transfer of spam through email, the risk of a network being blacklisted is eliminated, and legitimate emails are delivered without interruption.

“My vision is to eliminate the global email spam problem by cutting out spam at its source,” said CEO of MailChannels Ken Simpson. “That vision is now within reach of the Internet community, with this technology.”

Using the patented Recurrent Pattern Detection technology from Commtouch (www.commtouch.com), MailChannels Outbound has been deployed by Cambodian Internet services provider Ezecom (www.ezecom.com).

According to MailChannels, Ezecom plans to use the service to protect customers against address blacklisting.

“Our IP address space was blacklisted because of high spam volume, causing legitimate email delivery to fail,” said Suresh Kumar, chief technology officer of Ezecom. “At times, the volume of outbound spam exceeded 50 million connections a day, which is a large percentage of our upstream network bandwidth. We desperately needed a solution that could stop the spam, without hurting our legitimate customers.”

Deployed transparently within the network, MailChannels Outbound intercepts email in real-time. Managed through a centralized Web console, it can be set up within one hour, according to MailChannels.

Along with preventing blacklisting and reducing fraud costs, MailChannels Outbound reduces bandwidth consumption. Ezecom said its total upstream bandwidth demand was reduced by up to 40 percent once it deployed MailChannels Outbound.
