Lunarpages Updates Web Hosting

October 31, 2006 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting provider Lunarpages (lunarpages.com) announced on Monday it has increased the storage space and data transfer on its business and basic plans.

Lunarpages says its basic plan now provides 35GB of storage and 800GB of data transfer. The business plan offers 50GB of storage and a terabyte of data transfer.

The company says it is hoping to send out a message to the industry. Lunarpages says it becomes more concerned about the credibility of the Web hosting business with each announcement it sees regarding data transfer increases that can’t necessarily be responsibly delivered in a shared hosting environment. But the company does what it must to stay competitive, including increasing its own resources.

“The upgrades are simply cosmetic. We all know it and our customers know it,” says Ron Riddle, CEO of Lunarpages. “If our Webmasters can make use of the extra space and transfer allowance and increase their traffic significantly, fantastic. We will back up our offerings as always. However, hopefully this will serve as a message to our peers to stop devaluing shared hosting and focus on what matters, hosting Web sites, keeping them online and providing responsive and quality support for your community.”
