June 3, 2008 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting provider Logicworks (logicworks.com) announced on Tuesday it has expanded into Equinix’s (equinix.com) New York-4 Internet Business Exchange center in Secaucus, New Jersey to deliver its managed hosting solutions.

The new NY4 center is Equinix’s fourth in the New York Metro area and it’s largest in the United States. Spanning 340,000 square feet, the size of five football fields, the new facility is designed to ensure optimal conditions for equipment operation,

The heating/ventilation/air conditioning system provides sufficient airflow, temperature and humidity throughout the center.

Logicworks says it decided to expand into the new Equinix facility because it features the most modern design, power, cooling and security provisioning.

“Our clients require the highest level of system availability,” says Kenneth Ziegler, president and COO of Logicworks. “Equinix understands facility management and capacity planning at a level we can appreciate given our experience utilizing these services. Their new facilities are a natural fit with Logicworks’ core mission of keeping our complex hosting clients up and running 100 percent of the time.” Logicworks’ designs fully fault-tolerant systems for its growing customer base, and will deploy rack-mountable servers, storage arrays, network and other devices to serve the needs of its growing global customer base. The company also plans to expand into Equinix’s West Coast facilities later this year.

Both Logicworks and Equinix have announced “green” initiatives in the last couple months. In April Logicworks launched a new carbon offset program with TerraPass, which enables customers to balance out the carbon dioxide emissions produced by data centers. And just last week, Equinix announced that all four of its Silicon Valley Internet Business Exchange centers have received certification from the Bay Area Green Business Program.
