In the new release, Apache interchangeability has been greatly improved, which not only provides support for most commonly used Apache features, but also makes LiteSpeed the only high performance Apache drop-in replacement that can operate directly from Apache configuration files, says the company. LiteSpeed adds that beta users have demonstrated that LiteSpeed works flawlessly in conjunction with popular control panels like cPanel, DirectAdmin and other control panels in real world shared Web hosting environments.

Development of LiteSpeed Web Server began in 2002 and was first released to the public in 2003. According to Netcraft’s latest Web server market share survey, LiteSpeed currently powers over 80,000 domain names.
