Liquid Web Opens New Data Center
September 8, 2006 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting provider Liquid Web (liquidweb.com) announced on Thursday it would hold the grand opening of its second data center on September 14.
Liquid Web’s newest 32,000 square-foot data center, DC2, is located in Lansing, Michigan and receives Tier1 bandwidth from AT&T, MCI and SAVVIS. To provide multi-city redundancy, Liquid Web also employs connections from Detroit and Chicago. Liquid Web says DC2 has been designed with complete redundancy enabling maximum reliability and uptime, and will be home to nearly 8,000 Web servers, which will make Liquid Web one of the largest consumers of bandwidth in the greater Lansing area.
The launch will feature a ribbon cutting preformed by Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce president William Sepic, an overview presentation by Liquid Web CEO Matthew Hill, live jazz entertainment, appetizers and refreshments and guided tours of the new secure facility.
With the opening of DC2, Liquid Web says it will continue to focus on quality managed hosting services for its shared, dedicated and virtual private server products. The opening of DC2 is expected to create 100 new highly skilled tech jobs in the Lansing area over the next two years.
