Liquid Web Completes Network Upgrades

December 1, 2004 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting provider Liquid Web (liquidweb.com) announced on Tuesday that it has activated OC-12 Internet service with MCI/Uunet to its data center facility in Lansing, Michigan, the last step in a comprehensive network upgrade that has taken place over the last few months.

The connection to MCI/Uunet coincides with the activation of an SBC OC-48 redundant diverse path SONET ring in addition to a series of major network equipment upgrades. Among the upgrades are the addition of Cisco networking gear, including multiple redundant Cisco GSR 12000 border routers and a fully redundant network core featuring Cisco 6509′s with Sup720 processors. Liquid said its upgraded network can handle up to 400 million packets per second and a transfer rate of 720 gigabits per second.
