LINX Expands Membership To 210 May 2, 2006 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Internet Exchange Operator the London Internet Exchange (linx.net) recently announced it has signed Emirates Telecommunications (etisalat.ae) as its 210th member, which also marks its first member from the Middle East. Emirates Telecommunications, also known as Etisalat, provides voice, wireless and data telecommunication services to the UAE and is one of the leading service providers in the Middle East. The company also operates the Emirates Internet Exchange, the first network access point in the Middle East. In addition to its network services, Etisalat also runs an academy and a university, which were founded to help people keep pace with the rapidly changing technology in the telecom field.   ”As LINX grows so does the potential markets for our members,” says Vanessa Evens, LINX sales and marketing manager. “As an organization we prefer to look forward and with so many providers approaching LINX looking to do business, it will not be long before we are announcing our 250th member.” LINX membership has increased 32 percent over the last 12 months and now connects the networks of 210 content delivery and Internet service providers across the world.
