July 19, 2005 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Content delivery network provider Limelight Networks (limelightnetworks.com) announced on Monday that it is now offering Flash video streaming.
The new service offers content providers a scalable, worldwide infrastructure through which to reach an audience of users who want to instantly view movies and trailers, TV shows, broadcast media, advertising and major events, without waiting for content to load and without downloading additional player programs.
By integrating Flash Communication Server technology licensed from Macromedia, the Limelight content delivery network now enables publishers to easily distribute video and music across multiple platforms and browsers to audiences of any size.
“It’s a natural fit for us to combine our large audience and distributed streaming network with the Macromedia Flash platform – especially as we target delivery across a wide range of IP-connected devices beyond the PC,” says Mike Sawyer, vice president of marketing for Limelight Networks.
