December 21, 2007 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) –Telecommunications provider Level 3 Communications (level3.com) announced it has won a Technical Emmy Award for “Outstanding Achievement in Technical/Engineering Development” as awarded by The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. The award will be presented next month at the Annual Engineering & Technology Emmy Awards during the CES show.
The Technical Emmy is regarded as one of the highest accomplishments in the television industry. Level 3 Vyvx Services received the award for developing a fully monitored fiber optic based digital network for occasional use and full time video services with fully provisioned local video access at shared use sports venues, enabling the networks to seamlessly transport high value content to its audiences.
The increase in content generation and the number of broadcast outlets require broadcasters to have a scalable and simplified solution to help them meet this growing demand of both standard and high definition services. The Vyvx solution enables over 100 sporting venues in more than 50 US cities and 24 teleport locations connected to its network.
“We are honored to receive the Technical Emmy from The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences,” says Grant van Rooyen, senior VP of product management for Level 3′s Content Markets Group. “Level 3′s Vyvx services have played a vital role in broadcasting major athletic events. Level 3 offers connectivity and integrated monitoring, and control components that provide broadcasters with an advanced solution to deliver live video.”
Level 3 announced last week it signed a deal with Crackle, a Sony Pictures Entertainment Company, to support its video delivery service.
