Layered Tech Offers Sun Platform

October 18, 2007 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Managed hosting provider Layered Technologies (layeredtech.com) announced on Thursday it is collaborating with Sun Microsystems (sun.com) to offer Sun Startup Essentials members the ability to rapidly deploy on-demand hosting and utility computing solutions supported by Layered Technologies on Sun’s platform of products and the Solaris 10 operating system.

“By collaborating with Sun and offering their platform of premium products to our customers aligns with this strategy,” says Todd Abrams, president and COO of Layered Technologies. “Our collaboration with Sun further strengthens our ability to help our clients reduce their infrastructure and operating costs, eliminate capital expenses involved with building their own infrastructure, as well as increase their return on investment.”

The company says it will now provide Unix-based Solaris OS as part of its comprehensive, world-class hosted dedicated server offerings. The Solaris 10 OS server hosted solutions are designed for small, medium and enterprise customers, delivering an optimum blend of reliability, affordability and flexibility, similar to Layered TechnologiesÂ’ other server packages, says the company.

Layered Technologies along with 3Tera announced on Wednesday they will be showcasing Web-based storage solution DynaVol this week at Web 2.0 Summit.
