October 2, 2007 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Managed hosting provider Layered Technologies (layeredtech.com) announced on Tuesday that it has launched grid-based scalable and flexible data management solution, DynaVol. Whether storing data or serving static content, DynaVol offers a highly-available, reliable and secure environment for data management needs, says the company.
DynaVol is a Web-based storage solution that enables users to securely store data or serve static content. The solution safeguards valuable data at onsite and offsite locations using a highly-available data storage model that uses the transparent data mirroring of Layered Technologies grid hosting infrastructure.
All DynaVol data is mirrored to a different server at a different location as backup, with nearly instant automated backup recovery. The data is stored on a network RAID1 pair, as well as stored in virtualized containers, giving users complete control of the storage environment, including the ability to upload, download, store and serve data from one convenient location to another.
The DynaVol package is housed in a virtual private server environment, enabling access to the supported protocols and services using either built-in VPN server support or public IP-based access systems.
Last month, Layered Technologies’ support database was hit with a malicious attack that may have resulted in the illegal downloading of information, including the names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses and server login information for 5,000 to 6,000 customers.
