Layered Tech is launching a new federal cloud platform-as-a-service solution aimed at government agencies that require cloud computing services.
The hosting and cloud services company made the announcement at the Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference this week in Washington, D.C.
The new platform, called Federal Community Cloud Platform, combines the “cost benefits and flexibility of a public cloud with the security and customization of a private cloud.” The platform is under Layered Tech’s government solutions arm which it established in 2012 after the acquisition of government cloud hosting provider New World Apps.
Known for its focus on highly regulated industries including healthcare and government, Layered Tech hosting helps clients comply with regulations on security and data retention. Layered Tech doesn’t outsource its compliance so it is able to offer a 100 percent guarantee that its compliant hosting will pass every IT audit or assessment for FedRAMP, PCI DSS and HIPAA.
“Layered Tech’s expertise and experience with sensitive federal data make them an ideal partner for managing cloud solutions,” Kirk McElwain with the Small Business Administration’s Office of Communications and Public Liaison said. “This new platform is an exciting new step that shows Layered Tech is dedicated to improving its products and services.”
According to the announcement, Layered Tech Government Solutions serves more than half of the US federal cabinet-level agencies already, and was named Partner of the Year by Microsoft Dynamics in 2013 based on its expertise on providing FISMA-compliant cloud hosting.
“We’ve been a Microsoft Partner for several years, and we’re excited to be able to launch such a terrific product at one of the most visible tech conferences in the world,” Dan Tudahl, Layered Tech Government Solutions President and General Manager said. “We are laser-focused on cloud security and compliance and we are on target to achieve FedRAMP certification this summer. The Partner Conference is a great opportunity to show our strengths on the government side, as well as in commercial cloud hosting.”
In March, VMware and Carpathia, a competitor of Layered Tech, announced a partnership where Carpathia hosts a VMware vCloud Government Service. The service offers a VMware vSphere-based hybrid cloud service that can run legacy and new applications.
