Latisys has begun construction on its Irvine, California data center expansion
Data center operator Latisys announced on Monday it has begun construction on its Irvine, California data center expansion which will add 12,000 square feet of raised floor and 1.8MW of power.
In September 2011, Latisys opened the first 22,000 square feet and 10 MW of power of the 93,000 square foot data center.
The data center expansion continues Latisys’ aggressive growth strategy, following the opening of its DC05 Ashburn and CHI2 Chicago data centers.
The company has a total of 343,000 square feet across seven data centers in four major US markets.
The data center currently has 20MW of power capacity across 93,000 square feet of data center space.
In addition to this building, Latisys also has another facility with 50,000 square feet of data center space, which the company recently acquired.
Latisys says it plans to complete the expansion and make the new space available to customers by the end of the second quarter.
“Southern California continues to grow as a destination of choice for outsourced IT infrastructure services and as a gateway to Asia Pacific,” said Tom Panarisi, regional sales director at Latisys.
In March 2012, Latisys launched its IaaS platform, an enterprise cloud hosting product.
