(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Colocation and data center operator Latisys (www.latisys.com) announced on Wednesday it has been awarded a $3.4 million contract to provide data center colocation services to the State of Illinois Department of Central Management Services (www.state.il.us/cms).
CMS provides a range of programs and services to other Illinois state agencies and to the general public, including procurement, IT expertise, personnel and benefits for management of many properties around Illinois.
The department helps ensure that state agencies serve the people of Illinois efficiently and cost-effectively.
For this services contract, Latisys is providing CMS secure and reliable high-density colocation services, which includes multi-site failover redundancy, multi-layered security and rich network connectivity provided by telecommunications companies.
“We are honored that State of Illinois CMS has selected Latisys for its IT infrastructure solutions requirements, and we believe it reinforces our value proposition of providing flexible, scalable and redundant data center solutions,” says Don Goodwin, Latisys executive vice president. “With ample access to power, a secure, resilient, carrier-rich facility with direct backbone access to the major network carriers, Latisys is able to provide customers like CMS with ‘zero-mile’ connectivity directly to multiple network providers.”
In March, Latisys opened a new data center campus in Ashburn, Virginia, adding to its existing facility operations in Chicago, Denver and Irvine, California.
Through these data centers, Latisys offers multi-site redundancy to enterprise customers in any US time zone, whether they want to off-site, off-load, outsource or optimize their IT infrastructure.
