(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — DotNetNuke Corp. (www.dnncorp.com), the organization behind .NET-based content management application DotNetNuke, has announced the released of DotNetNuke version 5.6, which adds significant improvements including the new DotNetNuke Site Search, which enables more effective website content search, and Enhanced Google Analytics Support, which provides greater performance and control over the monitoring of website traffic.
According to DotNetNuke’s Wednesday announcement, both DotNetNuke 5.6 Professional Edition and Enterprise Edition include Site Search and Enhanced Google Analytics Support, as well as significant enhancements to content approval workflows, extending the ability of organizations to control changes to website content. These features are not included in the free Community Edition of DotNetNuke.
Based on search engine library Apache Lucene, the new site search engine, according to the announcement, includes a rich query syntax that supports Boolean searches, phrase searches, relevance searches, wild cards, fuzzy searches, and groupings. It also includes a true Web spider capable of indexing any site, whether built on DotNetNuke or not.
The Enhanced Analytics Support lets users take full advantage of Google’s toolkit for measuring site and applications (www.google.com/analytics/), with the addition of best practices from Google. As well, it now offers the tracking of sub-domains as a single entity as well as the use of up to five segmentation rules per page.
Also, new content approval workflows enable site managers to configure user approval in a top-down hierarchy at the site, page, and module level. And the addition of content locking helps improve efficiency and reduce the chance of workflow conflicts.
DotNetNuke is the most widely adopted framework for building Microsoft .NET (www.microsoft.com/net) websites and applications, and it powers more than 600,000 websites worldwide.
In October, Web hosting, e-commerce and content management services provider iHost.Net (www.ihost.net) launched a strategic partnership with DotNetNuke Web development firm Coding Staff (www.codingstaff.com) to offer a range of turnkey sites and modules based on the DotNetNuke framework. This partnership lets customers new to the framework have a site up and running on DotNetNuke in minutes.
