(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Cloud computing technology provider 3Tera (www.3tera.com) has released version 2.7 of its AppLogic cloud computing platform, featuring automatic diagnostics, system self-healing, and other enhancements to improve service availability and reduce the cost of cloud operations.
According to 3Tera’s Thursday announcement, AppLogic 2.7 integrates server, storage and networking virtualization, hardware operations, volume management via highly-available integrated IP storage area network, advanced network security, orchestration and multi-service operations into one turn-key cloud computing system. This integration makes AppLogic the industry’s most economical option for enterprises and data center operations, according to Peter Green, chief technology officer of web host Agathon Group (www.agathongroup.com).
“Even compared to open source solutions, AppLogic has the lowest cost of ownership,” Green said in a statement. “Every new version comes loaded with features and capabilities, which actually reduces the cost of operation. In the last year we were able to triple the number of servers running on AppLogic and grow internationally in three new data center locations without adding IT personnel.”
With AppLogic, data center operators can provide IaaS, PaaS, and virtual data center services from a single platform, add or remove resources and storage without disrupting users, manage and scale remote resources, handle hardware failures automatically without losing data and with minimal downtime, and provide comprehensive resource usage metering for billing and charge-backs.
IT cloud users can use AppLogic to deploy and scale existing web apps without changing code and architecture. They can also integrate, monitor and scale applications and infrastructure within a browser interface, as well as package distributed systems for easy operation and portability, securely exchange date between multiple servers in the cloud, and replicate web apps between multiple data centers.
“With more than three years in operation with service provider partners, we’ve amassed a great deal of information about how to operate a cloud,” 3Tera marketing and product management senior vice president Bert Armijo said in a statement. “AppLogic 2.7 puts that knowledge to work to reduce the cost of service operation and improve service availability.”
AppLogic 2.7 is available immediately to new and current customers and partners. It is also backward compatible with all prior versions of AppLogic and catalog appliances and applications.
