Joyent Buys Web Host TextDrive

November 29, 2005 — Hosted collaboration software developer Joyent (joyent.com) said on Monday that it had acquired application hosting provider TextDrive. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“Joyent’s innovative, network-based collaboration software combined with TextDrive’s proven expertise in building high performance hosted solutions, creates a company delivering compelling network-based applications over a 100 percent reliable and scalable infrastructure,” says David Young, CEO of Joyent. “Joyent’s combined software and hosting capabilities now deliver a complete network-based application and infrastructure platform to our ISP, VAR, developer and end-user customers.”

Joyent says it will support all existing TextDrive products and customers.

Dean Allen, CEO of TextDrive, becomes the president and director of Joyent Europe.
