A demo video shows the creation of a Jelastic environment
(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Java hosting platform Jelastic (www.jelastic.com) announced on Monday that it has established its US operations in Palo Alto, California.
This announcement comes two weeks after Jelastic built the open-source web server NGINX into its platform to increase performance and efficiency.
Jelastic is a platform-as-a-service offering that runs any Java application in the cloud without code changes, according to the press release.
It has partnered with web hosting providers ServInt (www.servint.com) and Host Europe (www.hosteurope.com) to offer its platform.
“We are seeing tremendous interest in the US following our announcement last month of beta availability with our first US hosting partner, ServInt,” Ruslan Synytsky, CEO, Jelastic said in a statement. “Our base in the US helps us work closely with developers and hosting providers. We expect rapid growth as Jelastic is the only platform that makes it easy to run Java code from the cloud without vendor lock-in.”
With Jelastic, application developers can choose which stack components they want and need including a growing number of popular application servers (Tomcat, GlassFish, Jetty), SQL and NoSQL databases and their application will run and scale easily.
The Jelastic platform is different from earlier Java PaaS offerings because it will be available to Java developers through a network of hosting service providers.
Jelastic says it has more than 2,000 registered developers and applications deployed.
Java is a programming language used by nine million developers worldwide, according to the press release.
