Jamcracker and Eucalyptus Systems Collaborate for Self-Service Infrastructure Clouds

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Unified cloud services delivery and management software company Jamcracker (www.jamcracker.com) and open-source private cloud platform developer Eucalyptus Systems (www.eucalyptus.com) have announced an integration to enable enterprises to self-provision Infrastructure-as-a-Service private and hybrid clouds.

The integration of the Jamcracker and Eucalyptus platforms, announced Thursday, enables IT departments using Jamcracker Platform Enterprise Edition to automate the process of procuring the resources and building private and hybrid infrastructure clouds. Eucalyptus Systems and Jamcracker are highlighting this new solution at the VMworld 2010 conference held in San Francisco this week.

“The adoption of private and hybrid cloud technologies is growing rapidly as a means for large enterprises to access the efficiencies of public clouds and maintain the security advantages of on-premise clouds,” Jamcracker marketing and business development vice president Steve Crawford said in a statement. “Through this partnership with Eucalyptus Systems, we are providing organizations with a pre-integrated solution that makes it easy to centralize the resource provisioning, creation, and management of private clouds as wells as hybrid clouds that can tap computing resources in the public cloud.”

The Jamcracker Platform Enterprise Edition gives organizations control over public and private cloud service provisioning and management. Meanwhile, the Eucalyptus cloud platform lets IT departments create their own private clouds and move workloads among internal servers, or to and from external cloud services. The integration of both platforms provides a turnkey solution for procuring through Jamcracker all the resources required to implement scalable IaaS-style private and hybrid clouds using the Eucalyptus platform.

“Self service is essential for any cloud infrastructure, and Jamcracker provides a proven solution that can help businesses unify IT services across private, hybrid and public clouds and deliver them in a single point of provisioning for end-users,” Eucalyptus Systems sales and marketing vice president Matt Reid stated. “We welcome Jamcracker to the growing ecosystem of partner solutions that extend the benefits of the Eucalyptus cloud platform.”

Jamcracker Platform Enterprise Edition, in effect, lets IT departments broker their company’s own cloud services, offering any combination of cloud-based services to their organization including private and public IaaS, Platform as a Service, and Software as a Service solutions.
