(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — The rise of media-rich online applications combined with the growing demand for IT capacity has helped dedicated, shared and colocation hosting provider iWeb (www.iweb.com) reach a milestone, having announced today that it is hosting more than 10,000 dedicated servers.
According to the Montreal-based company’s Tuesday announcement, iWeb’s footprint has more than tripled in the past three years.
“The fact is that many companies today are using IP-based technologies to keep IT spending under control, or to reduce spending,” iWeb president and chief executive officer Eric Chouinard said in a statement. “IT budget restrictions mean that the companies we work with are outsourcing their infrastructure to iWeb instead of financing their servers, maintaining them and building their own data centers.”
iWeb president of products and technology Martin Leclair said dedicated server hosting began as “an experiment” in 2002. “Ten thousand servers later it has become iWeb’s core business” Leclair said in a statement. “iWeb is now in a position to start creating a server product that has even more value for the customer.”
iWeb’s revenues have increased at least 60 percent every year since 2003. It also reported a 92 percent first quarter revenue increase over the same period a year before, which ended December 31.
Last month, iWeb appointed former iWeb chief financial officer and executive vice-president of resources Marc Guindon to the iWeb board of directors.
Also according to the announcement, iWeb plans to roll out marketing campaigns revolving around the number 10,000 to promote its dedicated server hosting services.
