iWeb Among Canada's Fastest Growing Companies

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Canadian web hosting provider iWeb (www.iweb.com) announced last week it has moved up from 100th position to 85th position on the Profit100 (www.PROFITmagazine.ca), business magazine PROFIT magazine’s annual ranking of Canada’s fastest growing companies based on revenue growth over the past 5 years.

iWeb is one of four web hosts that appear on the list this year, which also includes Tenzing Managed IT Services (42), Fusepoint Managed Services (46), PEER 1 Network Enterprises (75).

The Montreal-based company has grown significantly over the past five years, as the company sees a growing demand for its ddicated, shared and colocation hosting services.

In April, iWeb announced that it now has more than 10,000 dedicated servers, representing a data center footprint increase of more than 300 percent in the past three years.

From 2003 to 2008, the company’s revenues have skyrocketed from $1,384 million to $ 15,616 million as of October 1, 2008.

The company recently released its financial results for the quarter ended December 31, 2008, which revealed a revenue increase of 92 percent to $6.1 million for the quarter ended December 31, 2008.

iWeb is also becoming an important exporter of IT services, generating over 60 percent of its revenues from abroad.

“In 2003, shortly before iWeb went public and bought its first data center, we knew everything would become digital,” says Eric Chouinard, CEO and co-founder of iWeb. “It’s amazing to see how quickly this transition is actually happening. This is a very proud achievement for iWeb. More than anything else, it is the result of teamwork and persistence.”

Other key growth statistics over the past five years include the number of iWeb’s employees increasing from 15 to 166, data center jumping from 500 to 59,000 square feet, network capacity going from 100 Mbps to 59 Gbps, dedicated servers growing from 200 to 11,000, and colocation cabinets increasing from 4 to 1,012.

The annual PROFIT 100 list rates the top 100 Canadian companies based on the percentage of their revenue growth over a 5-year span. PROFIT will publish the 21st edition of the ranking in its June edition, as well as on the website.
